In the spirit of Easter, thousands of residents across Ogun State have benefitted from a large-scale chicken distribution initiative spearheaded by the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate, Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu. The outreach, which cuts across all twenty local government areas of the state, was thoughtfully designed to cushion economic hardship and bring joy to families during the festive season.

The initiative specifically reached market women, youth groups, and vulnerable households, ensuring inclusivity and reinforcing the message that no one should be left behind during a season that symbolizes renewal and compassion.

Speaking while extending his Easter wishes to the people of Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu emphasized the essence of purposeful leadership. “Leadership is about taking action that directly improves the lives of the people. Easter reminds us to care for one another and translate our influence into meaningful support for the communities we serve,” he stated.

Many beneficiaries described the gesture as both timely and impactful, noting that it has enabled them to celebrate Easter with dignity despite prevailing economic challenges.

Renowned for his strong grassroots connection, Hon. Adebutu continues to champion initiatives that not only provide immediate relief but also promote sustainable empowerment. This Easter outreach further underscores his commitment to people-centered leadership and inclusive development.

Observers have also highlighted the programme as a clear example of practical leadership, one that blends compassion with strategic action to ensure that the dividends of service are felt across every corner of the state.

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, has praised the remarkable contribution of the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, for promoting economic growth through large-scale agricultural investment.

Ogundoyin made this remark during a courtesy visit to Adebutu’s agricultural enterprise, Solomon Kesington Agro Allied Limited, a multi-billion-naira farm located in Iperu Remo within Ikenne Local Government Area on Thursday.

Speaking during the visit, the Speaker expressed admiration for the scale of investment and the eco-friendly nature of the farm’s operations. He commended Adebutu for playing a significant role in boosting the economic fortunes of Ogun State and contributing to national development through agriculture. Ogundoyin also acknowledged the dedication of the farm’s workforce, noting that hundreds of staff members were actively engaged in different shifts at the time of the visit.

During the tour, Hon. Adebutu personally guided the delegation around the expansive facility, showcasing its modern infrastructure. The visitors were shown the international-standard processing plant, pig pens accommodating more than 30,000 pigs, cattle ranches with barns housing over 3,000 cows, as well as other livestock sections within the farm.

At the end of the tour, the delegation commended Adebutu for his commitment to maintaining high operational standards and sustaining a farm that meets global agricultural benchmarks.

Members of the delegation who accompanied the Speaker included Abraham A. A. Osinubi and Aliu A. Soyingbe, the Dean and Sub-Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Lagos, respectively.

Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu on Thursday joined several prominent Nigerians and distinguished guests at the 2026 Obafemi Awolowo Annual Lecture, an intellectual gathering organised by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation to honour the enduring legacy of the late Nigerian nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. The event, which attracts scholars, policymakers, and political leaders from across the country, continues to serve as a platform for reflection on the ideals and leadership philosophy of one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures.

The 2026 edition of the lecture was delivered under the theme “Politics as Future-Making: Awolowo and Leadership as a Theory of Action.” The theme explored how Awolowo’s political ideology and governance principles remain relevant to contemporary leadership challenges in Nigeria and beyond. Speakers and discussants examined the late statesman’s intellectual contributions to public policy, social welfare, and democratic governance.

Participants at the event emphasised that Awolowo’s model of leadership was built on foresight, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people. They noted that his policies in education, regional development, and social reforms during his time in public service continue to be referenced as examples of visionary leadership and purposeful governance.

Speaking on the significance of the lecture, Adebutu commended the organisers for sustaining a platform that encourages reflection on the principles of accountable leadership and national development. He noted that Awolowo’s legacy remains a guiding light for emerging leaders who seek to build a society founded on justice, equity, and progress.

The annual lecture organised by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation has, over the years, become a respected intellectual tradition, bringing together thought leaders to examine critical issues facing the nation while drawing inspiration from the life and ideals of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
